ICEBOX GALLERY PRESENTS: "FIRST 100 DAYS"

— A Powerful Artistic Response to the First 100 Days of Donald Trump’s Second Term
Exhibit by Howard M. Christopherson to open January 20, 2025, at Icebox Gallery

Starting Date
Icebox Gallery, owned and operated by artist and photographer Howard M. Christopherson, is set to unveil a compelling new exhibit, First 100 Days, which will showcase daily artistic reflections on the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s second term as President of the United States.

The exhibit, which will be created from January 20 through April 30, 2025, is a personal artistic exploration of the political and social events that define this pivotal period in American history. Christopherson will create a new, one-of-a-kind 6x6 inch piece of art every day, with each piece inspired by the events of the day and his own emotional and intellectual reactions. These daily works will be framed at 8x8 inches and displayed in the gallery within the week they are created.

First 100 Days Logo

The First 100 Days period has been a symbolically significant benchmark in U.S. presidential history since Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first term, offering a lens through which to gauge the early successes and challenges of a presidency. Through this series, Christopherson invites visitors to witness a visual diary of his personal engagement with this highly charged political moment.

The gallery will grow gradually throughout the exhibit’s duration, with approximately five new pieces added each week. Visitors can experience the ongoing process most Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, with the full collection of 100 works to be unveiled during Art-A-Whirl, held May 16–18, 2025. The exhibit will continue throughout the year and will also be available for viewing online via an Instagram page dedicated to the project. In addition, the First 100 Days collection will be featured at the Northrup King Building’s Art Attack event in November 2025.

Preparing for First 100 Days
Artist Statement:
“The first reason I am embarking on this 100-day art project is that it gives me a small place to react to something big,” says Christopherson. “After Donald Trump won the 2024 election, I felt empty and in shock. The country I had lived in all my life seemed disturbingly different from what I had hoped it would be. After living through his first term, I thought his ever-present image in the media would slowly fade. I was convinced that he would be held accountable for his actions, but instead, the American people voted him into the highest office again.”

“I have no idea how or what I will create during these 100 days,” Christopherson continues. “What I do know is that I will channel my thoughts, my reactions, and my emotions through whatever medium I choose each day. This work is not meant to be a political cartoon or a direct commentary on any single issue, but more of a visual diary—an intimate expression of my inner world as an American citizen living through this time.
